There are many appointment options, please read the descriptions if you have questions about which appointment is right for you!

Motorcycle Drive Test: This appointment type is for the Motorcycle Skills Drive Test, which is required to upgrade a motorcycle instruction permit to a motorcycle endorsement. This service is offered on a limited basis at only a few State driver license offices. This test is also provided by third-party testers throughout Colorado. More on motorcycle endorsements!

CDL Written Test: This appointment type is to schedule a Commercial Driver License written test.

CO-RCSA SB251: This appointment type is for undocumented residents who do not have a current SB251 credential, or if a written test is needed. 

CO-RCSA SB251 Renewal: This appointment type is for undocumented residents who have a current SB251 driver license, I.D. card or instruction permit. If no upgrades are needed, you may be eligible to complete this transaction online at myDMV.Colorado.gov. It can also be used to upgrade an I.D. to a permit, or a permit to a license, if testing has been completed at a third party.

Motor Vehicle Report: This appointment type is to request a copy of your Motor Vehicle Record or if you have the proper permissions (completed DR2489), request a copy of another customer's Motor Vehicle Record.

  • You may be eligible to get your MVR online


MVR/Reinstate/Pay a Ticket/DOT Med: This appointment type is for:

  • If you need to provide requirements and fee to reinstate your driving privilege from a cancellation, denial, suspension or revocation
  • CDL drivers to provide a current DOT medical card
  • If you have received a ticket from an agency whose jurisdiction is a county court
    • You may pay that ticket with us within 40 days of the issuance date of the ticket.
    • If you pay within 20 days, you are eligible for an automatic point reduction.
      • (This will preclude you having to go to court).


Dealer Title Drop Off: This appointment type is to schedule dealer resale title drop off only. Once your title is ready, you will be contacted to schedule a pickup appointment.

  • Dealers can also continue to mail these.


Vehicle Services IRP Originals: This appointment type is to schedule new originals under International Registration Plan services. This is for carriers conducting business across multiple states. 

Vehicle Services IRP Supplements or renewals: This appointment type is to schedule renewals and supplements under International Registration Plan services. This is for carriers conducting business across multiple states. 

Other appointments: All other appointment types are specifically offered at certain locations. These services aren’t available at other State driver license offices. These appointments and their locations include:

  • Reinstatements at Lakewood
  • Motor Vehicle Services at Lakewood 
Apply for a driver license or ID card

This service allows you to start an application for a Colorado driver license, ID or instruction permit online. If you wish to renew your driver license, click here.

Where's my license/ID?

This service allows you to track where your license is on its way to you. You should receive your credential within 10 days, if not you should check your mailing status with the 'Where's my Driver License/ID?' at myDMV.Colorado.gov.

Renew a driver license/ID

This allows eligible Coloradans to renew their license or ID online. Here is some helpful info on who is eligible to renew online:

Renewing a driver license, eligibility requirements:

  • You are 21 or older.
    • Temporary: All eligible customers are now able to renew online (previously restricted to 21-65 years of age).
      • If you are turning 21, please wait to renew after your birthday; otherwise you'll receive an under 21 driver license/ID card.
  • All outstanding tickets are paid.
  • There are no pending or final departmental actions on your record.
  • Your last driver license was issued in a driver license office, or you have not renewed online the last two times.
    • Note: If you are 65 or older you are exempt from this restriction.
  • No tests are required (written or road) to renew the driver license or ID.
  • You are not enrolled in the ACP
     
  • Commercial Driver License holders: 
    • Your license must be in good standing including:
    • Current DOT medical card
    • HazMat endorsement only: HazMat endorsements are not eligible for online renewal
Get a renewal reminder

You can set up an electronic renewal reminder. This reminder is sent your email address 45 days before your driver license or ID expires.

Check renewal by mail eligibility

With this online service, you can check your eligibility to renew your license or ID card by mail.

Request a license or ID extension

This service allows you to extend your driver license or ID card expiration date online, if eligible.

As a Colorado resident, to be eligible for an extension, you must:

  • Located outside the state of Colorado: one extension allowed.
  • Located outside of the U.S.: two extensions allowed.
  • Request must be made before 90 days of expiration date.

As an active duty military service member, you are eligible for a three-year extension with:

  • A letter from your commanding officer or copies of your military orders stating that you are active-duty military and currently stationed outside the state of Colorado.

Colorado residents currently in Colorado who are temporarily unable to apply in person due to physical impairment are eligible for a one-year extension when their driver license expires. You must have:

  • A medical note from your doctor requesting your driver license be extended because of a medical situation.
Change your driver license or ID address

This service allows you to change your address online. You will not receive a new card. Once you complete this process, print a label (for example, a return address label) with your new address and affix it to the back of your license, permit or ID card. Please note:

  • If you wish to receive a new card with your new address printed on it, you will need to renew.
  • You cannot update your address if you are in the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP).
  • This service doesn't update your vehicle registration address.
Downgrade your driver license

This online service allows you to downgrade your driver license to an ID card. Please note, if you are downgrading your driver license to an ID, you are giving up your driving privileges.

Pay a ticket or citation

This service allows you to pay eligible citations that you have received within the last 40 days, which have not been sent to the court. Please note: Citations issued by a municipal court are not payable through the Department of Revenue.

Pay a reinstatement fee

This service allows you to pay your reinstatement fee online in order to process the reinstatement of your driving privilege. Please note: 

  • You must visit a driver license office after completing reinstatement requirements to purchase your new driver license or instruction permit. Schedule your appointment now!
  • Your reinstatement fee does not include the cost of your new driver license or instruction permit.
  • You may be required to re-take written and/or drive tests.
  • Payments may take up to 48 hours to process and post to your account.
Upload your reinstatement documents

This service allows you to upload reinstatement documents required to process your reinstatement, view your uploads and print any forms you may need. Please note:

  • Please note, any uploaded documents will need to be reviewed by the department prior to reinstatement approval. This review takes 24-48 hours.
  • Please check the website before visiting an office to ensure you have met the necessary requirements to reinstate.
  • You will receive a letter if your reinstatement requirements are rejected.
  • You may be required to re-take written and/or drive tests.
  • You must visit a driver license office after completing reinstatement requirements to purchase your new driver license or instruction permit. Schedule your appointment now!
Reschedule a hearing

This service allows you to request your hearing to be rescheduled. To be eligible:

Submit a subpoena request

This service allows you to submit a subpoena request to be reviewed by the Hearings Division prior to a scheduled hearing.

Request your driver record

A driver record is an official document that contains one's driving history. This service allows you to request a driver record online.

There are three types of requests that can be performed:

  • Self-Request: Request your driver record.
  • Private Investigator: Request the driver record of another individual. An attached DR 2489 or DR 2559 is required.
  • Attorney: Request the driver record of another individual. An attached DR 2489 or DR 2559 is required.
     
Update emergency contacts

This service allows you to add or update your emergency contact information.

Submit your DOT medical certificate

This service allows you to view or submit your DOT medical certificate information. Medical certificates are required for commercial drivers.

Renew your vehicle registration

This service will allow you to renew a Colorado vehicle's registration. Please note: 

  • Your current registration must expire within a month, late fees will apply after your registration is a month expired.
  • You must not have a hold on your vehicle.

What you'll need:

  • License Plate number
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Verification Code
  • Current vehicle emissions, if applicable
  • Current Colorado Insurance
  • A valid credit card or check (if payment is required)
First time vehicle registration

This service allows you to submit your first time vehicle registration application.

Request a duplicate title

This service will allow you to request a duplicate title. Please note:

  • You must have an active title
  • You must not have any liens against your title
  • You do not reside in Crowley or Hinsdale county
Request a duplicate registration card

This service will allow you to request a duplicate registration card. This card will be mailed to you, so please allow one to two weeks for delivery.

Estimate registration fees

This online service allows you to calculate the amount due for new, first-time vehicle registrations. This is not to calculate registration renewals.

Add/change a vehicle address

This service will allow you to add/change your vehicle's addresses.

Please ensure that you are updating both your legal (physical) and mailing address, if both have changed. Your legal address determines your county of residence and your vehicle registration fees. Your mailing address determines only where your mail will go. This action does not change the address on your Drivers License or Voter Registration. Please note:

  • Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) participants will not be able to change their legal address online. If you are participating in this program, please go into your county office to change your address.
Report release of liability

Use this request to voluntarily report an ownership transfer for your vehicle. You will need your license number and VIN number or the verification code from your registration receipt. Please note:

  • Vehicle owners are still required to sign their title over to the new vehicle owner and the seller should remove their license plates before completing a motor vehicle sale.
Emissions waiver

This service will allow you to apply for an emissions waiver. If you have any questions, please contact the Emissions office directly at (303) 205-5603.

  • If your vehicle currently has a temporary plate, please contact our office directly to apply for your waiver.
Out-of-state emissions testing extension

This service will allow you to request an out-of-state emissions testing extension. Please note:

  • If your vehicle currently has a temporary plate, please contact the Emissions office directly at (303) 205-5603 to apply over the phone.
  • This is only the application for an Emissions Extension. Please wait at least one business day for the application to be reviewed and then you will be able to renew your registration either directly at your county office, at a DMV kiosk, or online.

  • Out-of-state active duty military service members
  • Colorado residents living, working, or otherwise temporarily located outside of Colorado
  • Owners of vehicles disabled outside of Colorado
