Man shares story of traveling 1927 license plate

Upon settling into his new home in Woodbridge, Virginia in 1995, Tom found an expected Colorado relic on top of the kitchen cupboard – a vintage plate, but not the kind people eat on.

“I was settling in and unpacking after moving to the Washington D.C. metro area for a new job at the Pentagon when I found the item,” he said.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS -- May was tough for Licensing Technician Misty Capozzi, of Parachute, Colorado.

The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles civil servant was away from home for three weeks during May and spent 16 hours commuting from one far flung office to another.

"That's not typical," said Capozzi, who's based out of the Glenwood Springs Driver License Office. "Once, or twice a month in the summer, is typical. It seems to be more of a thing only because there are more people taking vacation during the summer."

Safety top priority at DMV's biennial CDL training seminar in Westminster

DENVER -- Safe roads and drivers were center stage at the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles' biennial Commercial Driver License (CDL) Training seminar May 7-8 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Westminster.

About 60 third-party CDL testers from throughout Colorado attended the two-day event, which was hosted by the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles Driver Testing and Education CDL Compliance Unit.

Alamosa native grows up to manage DMV office where he got his first license

Coloradans making their way through the Alamosa Driver License Office might not know it, but Manager George Oringdulph's ties to the area and the office run deep.

Years ago Oringdulph obtained his license from the same office and building he now oversees.

"At 15, I completed my written test here and was issued a permit that I had to hold for three months," Oringdulph said. "I practiced driving but I really didn't need much because it came pretty naturally to me. I then returned at 16 years old and completed the drive test, passed and was issued a license.
