LAKEWOOD, Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 -- The Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is extending the Iconic Colorado contest to Oct. 30 thanks to two grants totalling $1,000.
The grants, which will be awarded to the winners of the front and back designs, will be $500 each and are a result of interagency collaboration between the DMV and Colorado Creative Industries, a division of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT).
The Iconic Colorado contest will accept submissions from anyone who lives or studies in Colorado until Oct. 30.
Up to 10 finalists will be selected by a committee with a final, public vote on the top three designs. In addition to the two grants, winners will get bragging rights, will be featured in all of the Governor's Office’s and DMV’s relevant media releases as well as having their name featured on all Colorado identification credentials.
Entries will be judged on how well the artwork captures Iconic Colorado, the artistic quality and its originality, and how well that design will translate into becoming the new Colorado license.
The Iconic Colorado contest is free to enter and each participant can submit up to three entries, each of which need to be the participant’s original artwork. Coloradans interested in participating in the Iconic Colorado contest visit www.colorado.gov/dmv/IconicColorado for complete information, terms and conditions, and templates for drafting submissions. The DMV will accept a variety of file formats such as EPS, SVG, JPEG and PDF, for entries, and asks that submissions not have any watermarks. Coloradans should email their designs and entry form to dor_IconicColorado@state.co.us.
New identification credentials are expected to launch in the fall of 2021.
