The International Fuel Tax Agreement is a motor fuels excise tax agreement between the 48 U.S. jurisdiction states and 10 Canadian provinces. It is designed to promote the most efficient use of the North American highway system by uniformly administering the motor fuels taxation laws for commercial vehicles operated in the member jurisdictions. The Department of Revenue\'s Taxation Division and Division of Motor Vehicles have improved the procedure to allow carriers who need IRP registration and IFTA credentials to be served during a single transaction at the DMV office located at 1881 Pierce Street, Lakewood, Colorado.
