MEEKER, Tuesday, March 17, 2020 -- In an effort to protect customers and Division of Motor Vehicle team members, the DMV has canceled the Pop Up Driver License events in Meeker on March 19-20 and April 16-17.
Currently the DMV plans to host its next Pop Up Driver License Office from May 7 to 8 at 555 Main St. in space provided by Rio Blanco County.
The Pop Up Driver License Office was first opened Feb. 20-21 and during its eight hours of operation, issued or renewed 46 identification cards and driver licenses.
Coloradans are strongly encouraged to use DMV online services during this time. At www.myDMV.Colorado.gov, Coloradans can use any of its 35 online services, such as:
- Request a Driver Record
- Pay citation (traffic ticket)
- Begin application for a new driver license or ID
- Renew a driver license or ID (if eligible)
- Pay a reinstatement fee
- Change driver license or ID address
- Exchange driver license or permit for an ID
- Extend an expiration date, if eligible
- Reschedule a hearing
- Check where your driver license or ID card is
- And more!
The cancellations are part of the State's COVID-19 response and come on the heels of Gov. Jared Polis' direction to close all of the Department of Revenue offices, including the DMV, to public contact.
The cancellations are part of the DMV's continued effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Previous measures include:
- Drivers 65 and older can renew online: Coloradans 65 and older may renew their driver license online at myDMV.Colorado.gov. Previously, Coloradans older than 65 were only able to renew their driver license or ID card by visiting an office or renewing by mail. Online renewals for those 65 and older will remain in place until the emergency order is lifted. There are a small number of customers who may have additional restrictions because they have renewed online twice before. The DMV will work with these customers on an individual basis to renew their credential without visiting an office.
- Vehicle registration waivers: The state is permitting counties to waive late fees for vehicle registration and renewals. This is in effect for the period of the Governor's emergency order. Customers are encouraged to utilize online services to complete eligible transactions.
