LAKEWOOD, Aug. 30, 2023 – The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles is proud to share the results of a staff-led donation drive to help to provide comfort to children facing traumatic emergency situations.

The DMV collected 217 new stuffed animals throughout August in support of the 6th annual KOSI 101.1 Teddy Bear Patrol donation drive.

The Teddy Bear Patrol drive provides new stuffed animals for first responders or emergency teams across the state to comfort children involved in traumatic events such as automobile wrecks or house fires.

The DMV believes a small act of kindness and comfort can go a long way in helping children during a time of need.

“I am so proud of the response we received from DMV team members to help children facing traumatic situations,” DMV Senior Director Electra Bustle said. “Thanks to these efforts, children in our communities can get some much-needed comfort during a scary and stressful time.”

The DMV encouraged team members to participate as a community service project and saw an outpouring of support from offices around the state.

The donation drive officially ended Aug. 26, but anyone interested in making a donation can still drop off a new teddy bear or other stuffed animal to any HealthOne location or make a purchase through Dollar Days.
