LAKEWOOD, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024 - The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is notifying the public of a data error in processing vehicle registration renewal cards for registrations expiring in October.

This error resulted in insurance requirements being printed on all October renewal cards, despite insurance not being necessary for all transactions.

The affected counties are: Jefferson, Douglas, Boulder, El Paso, Denver, and Montrose.
This error will not prevent customers from completing their transactions at DMV offices, online, or at self-service kiosks.

The DMV encourages owners in these counties to process their renewal cards as usual, whether online, at a kiosk, or with their county office.
