Colorado DMV Transforms Three Offices into Stuffed Animal Donation Hubs

Article Body

DENVER, Wednesday, August 5, 2026 — To help first responders provide a small measure of comfort to frightened children during emergencies, the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is asking the public to donate new stuffed animals at three driver license offices across the state through Tuesday, September 8.

The collection is part of the annual KOSI 101.1 Teddy Bear Patrol, presented by EAS Tire and Auto and Firehouse Subs.

The yearly donation drive gathers new stuffed animals and distributes them to Colorado’s first responders and emergency teams. Whether at the scene of a wreck or a fire, first responders use these toys to soothe and distract children during traumatic moments.

“I am proud that the DMV is participating and growing our effort this year,” DMV Driver Services Program Director Benjamin Mitchell said. “This is a staff-led initiative that speaks to the character and heart DMV Team Members have.”

After the September 8 deadline, the DMV will deliver all collected donations to KOSI 101.1 for distribution to emergency personnel statewide.

“Help us make a difference — if you can donate a stuffed animal, please do,” Mitchell added. “It might seem like a small act, but the comfort it provides can mean the world to a child who has just experienced trauma.”

Coloradans who are interested in helping can drop off a new stuffed animal at a participating driver license office. Donations should be in store packaging, if possible.
