Fraud occurs when a person suffers a financial or personal loss due to deceptive, unfair, misleading, or false business practices. All consumers are at risk of fraud, whether it involves their personal identity or their motor vehicle. These threats generally fall into two categories:

  • Personal Fraud: This occurs when an individual lies to gain an unfair advantage, leading to financial loss or the theft of your private information to commit further crimes.
  • Motor Vehicle Fraud: This specifically involves fraudulent activity regarding a vehicle. Examples include withholding vital information about a vehicle's history, tampering with a VIN, or attempting to mislead the buyer.

Don't let scammers stay in the driver's seat; you can pump the brakes on fraud by reporting it. To learn more about your options to report fraud for different scenarios, please click here.
